Skin II
2019, rockite cement, silicone rubber, 4 x 4 x 4" each.

This body of work begins with graphite drawings of skin treated like landscapes, from Skin I, with rolling mountains and valleys. As the subject travels through polymer clay, to inverse silicone molds and finally into cement, it transforms, carrying surface information across materials while losing other details along the way. The work explores the contrast between the expected softness of skin and the harsh, cold weight of cement, which records every compression and drag with precision. Though the forms are fixed and heavy, the cement continues to cure, undergoing a slow chemical process long after casting.
